How PhotoMatch works

  1. Scan a PhotoMatch QR code in a place (a bar, a park, a landmark). It opens a web page showing the place, its badge, this week's numbers and the latest photos taken there.
  2. Tap Add your photo: take one to three photos (back camera by default) and add an optional caption of up to 140 characters.
  3. Give your first name and your age, and tick that you are 18 or older and that your photo is public in the place's feed and in the app.
  4. Optional: turn on Meet people who were here (off by default) to be shown to, and see, the people who visited the same place.
  5. Tap Post to this place. On the last screen ("Your photo is live") your photo is published. Tap Open in PhotoMatch to bring the visit into the app.
  6. If you use Meet people, the Match tab shows the people who visited the same place in the same window: a bar night (until 6 a.m., Austin time) or a week (Monday to Sunday) for other places. Swipe right to like, left to pass. Two likes make a match, and your chat opens in Chats. People who follow each other can message each other too.

Report or block someone, or report a photo

PhotoMatch has zero tolerance for objectionable or abusive content. You can report and block directly in the app, wherever you meet the person:

In the app:

Blocking removes any follow and match between you and hides each of you from the other in the deck, the group and crew lists, the photo feed, comments and search. They are not told. A photo or comment reported by two different people is hidden for everyone while we review it.

Via email:

Send a report to clouisalexander@yahoo.com with "Report" in the subject line. We review reports and aim to act within 24 hours.

Delete Your Account

You can delete your account in the app:

In the app:

Me tab, then Edit at the top right, then Delete Account.

This deletes your account, your booth sessions and photos (with the likes and comments on them), your messages sent and received, your matches, follows and swipes, your place visits and badges, and your comments and photo likes. If something fails, your account is kept and the app tells you, so you can try again. The image files of your photos and profile picture are removed from our image host too. Reports and blocks that involve you are kept for safety. If you took photos without ever creating an account, email us and we will remove them. The Privacy Policy has the full list.

Common Questions

How do I get my photos on my profile?

Create an account in the app (you must tick "I'm 18 or older"), then open the link from the last screen of the place page: tap Open in PhotoMatch. If the app is not installed yet, install it, then go back to the place page in the same browser and tap the button again. The page remembers your post for 12 hours.

What is "Meet people who were here"?

It is an option, off by default. If you turn it on (on the place page, or later in Me, then Edit, then Meet people who were here), you give your gender, who you want to see and your star sign, answer three questions, and take a selfie that facial-analysis software turns into an internal score, which is never shown. You consent to that analysis separately, and only then. If you leave it off you can still post photos, collect badges, comment, follow and join the weekly group: you just have no cards and no swipes.

How do I turn it off?

Me tab, then Edit, then switch off Meet people who were here, then Save. You disappear from other people's cards and your "show me" answer is cleared. Your existing matches and chats stay. Your photos stay published.

Why can't I see anyone in the Match tab?

What are the compatibility percentage, badges and the crew?

The percentage on a card combines the two star signs, the age gap and an internal score computed from the selfie of people who use Meet people; the score itself is never shown. Badges are collectibles you unlock by scanning the code of a place that has one. The crew is everyone who visited, scanned or posted at a place in the current week (Monday to Sunday), with a group chat that every member can read.

Who can see my photos and my profile?

Once you have posted, your photo and caption are visible in that place's photo feed, on your profile and, if you use Meet people, on your card. The latest photos of a place are also shown on its page, which can be opened without an account. Your email, gender, "show me" answer, internal score, swipes and the list of places you visited are never shown to others. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

Who can I message?

Your matches, and people you follow who follow you back. The group chat is open to the week's crew. Messages are limited to 500 characters, and the group to five messages every 30 seconds per person.

Do I get notifications?

The app shows notifications for new matches and messages while it is running. There is no push server, so nothing arrives while the app is closed.
